St John the Baptist, Alnmouth
St John the Baptist church is located at the heart of Alnmouth village. We aim to be a Christian heart at the centre of our community - loving God, his Creation, and our neighbours through discipleship, outreach and service. Together we enjoy a range of worship services over the church’s year including regular Holy Communion, outdoor and informal gatherings, seasonal celebrations, and creative worship for all generations to join in with. Hosting community events and initiatives enriches our life together and provides fantastic opportunities to use the church space and contribute to Alnmouth’s vibrant village life. Here are some examples of what we have done over this past year:
- Remembrance Sunday
- Crib Service & Community Christmas light switch on
- Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals
- Picnic Church
- Music Recitals and Concerts
- Alnmouth Arts Festival
- Summer Fete
At St John the Baptist we have a wonderful building and superb grounds to host events and services, and offer a calm and quiet space for visitors. The church is open daily. We would love to welcome you at one of our services (see the yellow block right or below for our pattern of worship) and get to know you, particularly if you are visiting or new to the village. Look out for signs outside the church to see what is on while you are here.

Sustainability
As part of our recent sustainability assessment we are working with Northumberland Coast AONB to improve access to the building and church green. We have recently installed rails to assist use of the steps inside and outside the building, and completely work to level the floor provide safe access to the front of church. We are also planning to explore creating an oral history project to enliven and share the rich heritage of church life in Alnmouth, past and present. We are always looking to work with our community partners and village neighbours to host events and welcome visitors all year round.
