New! Coastland Churches Walking Group

Image caption: Our ‘Southern Pilgrims’ on Good Friday who walked with the cross from Alnmouth to Boulmer by way of witnessing to our Christian Faith.

The idea of a Coastland Churches walking group was shared in the April Newsletter. After some good responses and interest, the first walk has been organised for Saturday 25th May in the morning around the Newton area.

This month’s walk will be a short one – approximately 4 miles. Meet at 10am in the free car park in High Newton (What3Words: official.shack.educates.) We will walk to Football Hole, around Newton Point and stop at St Mary’s Church for coffee, then down to Low Newton and back to the car park via the fields.
A varied walk, easy terrain, along coast and inland pathways. Interesting botany and birdlife guaranteed.

This is an informal walking group and all participants take part at their own risk. Please email June Drage to be added to the walking group list if you have not already done so. Please also be in touch with June if you’d be keen to lead a walk in the future:

As this walking group gets established we will look to meet on the fourth Saturday of each month for a circular walk. If you’d like more information about the group or further details about the event, please use the contact form on the website.

We have such a wonderful resource to enjoy right on our doorsteps and it’ll be lovely to do this in the company of one another. The health benefits of walking are well known, also some people find it easier to chat when walking side by side rather than face to face. Should interest continue and the group grow, walks will aim to take place on the final Saturday of each month.

Thanks to June and Mike Drage for giving life (and legs!) to this idea. We pray that this initiative will be fruitful and encouraging to all those who participate.
